CBS News : reported that Committee files to draft Dwayne Johnson for president

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has hinted at a presidential run several times, and now a campaign committee has formally filed to draft the actor for president. The hope is that Mr. Johnson will see how much America desires the real leadership only he can provide and jumps in the race." The amazing enthusiasm and energy on the ground for Mr. Johnson prompted me to create the organization. The committee, called "Run The Rock 2020," was filed on the "Moana" actor's behalf with the Federal Election Committee on Sunday, as first reported by The Hill. In May, the former pro wrestler told GQ that a presidential run is "a real possibility."

Movie star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson could soon become Dwayne "The Candidate" Johnson. Even if he wants to be president, Johnson's Hollywood commitments could get in the way of his campaign. It's unclear if he would become a Democrat to have a better shot at beating fellow WWE star President Donald Trump. A Federal Election Commission filing dug up by The Hill shows there's an officially registered organization backing Johnson's potential 2020 run for the White House. For some context, President Donald Trump launched his campaign in June 2015, nearly a year and a half before the 2016 election.
