Los Angeles Times : reported that 'Jumanji' trailer turns Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart into video game avatars

The foursome discover that "you don't just play Jumanji — Jumanji plays you," according to the synopsis. Four detention-bound teenagers are thrust into a mysterious game in the first "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle" trailer, literally forced into the bodies of their avatars — played by Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan and Jack Black. "Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle," which also stars Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale, hits theaters Dec. 20. Instead of a board game, however, the Sony-Columbia reboot features Jumanji as a retro video game console. "They'll have to go on the most dangerous adventure of their lives, or they'll be stuck in the game forever."

The film stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale, with direction by Jake Kasdan. Like why Jack Black seems to be using the vocabulary a teen girl. "I can't even with this place…"Seems the adult cast we recognize – Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan – are actually portraying the avatars of the high school kids playing the haunted, old video game known as Jumanji. Producers are Matt Tolmach and William Teitler, with exec producers David Householter, Jake Kasdan, Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Ted Field, Mike Weber and Chris Van Allsburg. Sony Pictures releases Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on December 22.
