Hugh Jackman takes fitness tips from The Rock
Sydney: Actor Hugh Jackman called up actor-wrestler Dwayne Johnson,
popularly known as The Rock, to take tips on how to build lean muscle.
The Wolverine actor saw Johnson's well-built body in his movies, after which he called him up to find out how to get a similar body, says a source.
"I know Dwayne and I rang him and said, Buddy, I saw you in The Tooth Fairy and then I saw you in an action movie and you are massive. How do you do it?," Jackman said.
"He said, Okay, you want to put on 25 pounds of lean muscle? You need six months. You need to eat 6,000 calories and here it is," added Jackman.

Hugh Jackman Talks Getting Bodybuilding Advice From Dwayne Johnson
In
order to get in superhero shape for “The Wolverine,” Hugh Jackman
turned to someone who knows how to build a super body – Dwayne Johnson,
aka The Rock.
Hugh had, of course,
built up his body for the last Wolverine film and various “X-Men”
films, but this time around he was about to head into “Les Miserables,” a
film that required him to drop a considerable amount of weight. Knowing
he had to do the two projects – “Les Miserables” and “The Wolverine” —
back to back, Hugh knew he needed The Rock
“I
called him actually before I did ‘Les Mis’ because I was like, ‘Man, I
have a feeling this is going on. I have to cut down and really lean down
in size,’ and he told me a number of things,” Hugh recounted when Access Hollywood
sat down with the actor at the junket for “The Wolverine,” in New York
City on Thursday. “First of all, he said, ‘When you’re lean-ing down,
still keep your strength. You can still go in and push weights, so that
as soon as you start eating again you’ll go back quickly’. But, he said,
‘You gotta eat 6,000 calories a day, you’ve gotta train three hours.’”

Those 6,000 calories were not the fun kind – like burgers and milkshakes, Hugh told Access.
“It’s
chicken breast and vegetables,” he said. “Six thousand calories a day
could be a pizza and a nachos, but unfortunately it’s a lot [of chicken]
and fish. I’m going to some kind of chicken hell at the end of this.
I’ve literally murdered nations of chickens. Yes, I’m not the poster boy
for the vegan movement, but it’s that and training hard and time.”
The two exchanged calls during the process, and there was one moment on a phone call that Hugh still gets a kick out of.
“One
of the coolest moments when I was speaking to him — he was on a movie
at the time — and in the background someone knocked on his trailer door
and he goes, ‘Hang on a second!’ He opens it up, he goes, ‘I’m talking
to Wolverine, you tell them on set they can wait,’” Hugh laughed.
