The A.V. Club : reported that Joe Manganiello in talks to join Dwayne Johnson in Rampage · Newswire · The A.V. Club
With his role in The Batman possibly in jeopardy, Joe Manganiello is apparently keeping an eye out for a similarly high-profile adaptation of a beloved property. That could all be done with CG, of course, but that would just take even more roles away from Hollywood's hardworking and underutilized monster actors. Submit your Newswire tips here. Until he finds one, though, it looks like he's going to sign on to director Brad Peyton's Rampage movie, which is based on the old arcade game of the same name and stars Dwayne Johnson and Naomie Harris. This comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which says Manganiello and Marley Shelton are currently "in negotiations" to join Rampage, and should those negotiations work out, Manganiello will play "the leader of a private military group" and Shelton will play "a scientist and astronaut."In terms of original characters from the Rampage game that haven't been cast yet, this pretty much just leaves the screaming civilians that the monsters eat and the monsters themselves.
